Biology of the Laboratory Mouse

چکیده
The rapid development of nucleic acid research has resulted in the emergence of a wide variety of techniques associated with such research. The documentation of even some of these techniques in a well-written form is a formidable task. That the editors of this book have succeeded in producing such a fine first volume is a measure of the care they have taken and the calibre of the specialists contributing to the volume. This volume contains a description of techniques connected with "Enzymes of Nucleic Acid Metabolism" and the "Isolation, Preparation and Characterization of Natural and Synthetic Nucleic Acids." Under the first heading are sections dealing with enzymes involved in degradation and synthesis of DNA and RNA as well as a section on enzymes of t-RNA metabolism. The second part of the book is devoted to both RNA and DNA. Each section is divided into various chapters, each of which is concise and informative, with the practical procedures described quite comprehensively. In some chapters a good deal of background information is included with sufficient, up-to-date references to enable the reader to consult the literature profitably for results accruing from the use of the techniques described. This coverage is invaluable to the non-specialist and certainly interesting to those directly involved in nucleic acid research. The reader will also appreciate the author and subject indices included at the end of the book, which cite each author mentioned, as well as list in detail aspects of the subject covered. This book is well worth having as a reference. LOUIS LIM

Objective(s): Fetal microchimerism is the persistence of allogeneic cell population that transfer from the fetus to the mother. The aim of this study was to evaluate the presence of fetal microchimerism in the pancreas of the mouse with acute pancreatitis (AP).Materials and Methods: In this experimental study, female wild-type mice were mated with male EGFP+. AP model was obtained by injection ...

The aim of this study was to examine the anti-inflammatory effects of co-administration of growthhormone-releasing peptide-2 (GHRP-2) and growth hormone (GH) on tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α),interleukin-6 (IL-6) and inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) gene expression induced by LPS in the mousebrain. Thirty-five male NMRI mice (25±5 g) were injected through the mouse tail vein with saline,...
متن کاملChanges in the expression of OCT4 in mouse ovary during estrous cycle
The transcriptional factor OCT4 regulates pluripotency of stem cells and has an important role during oocyte growth. Whereas, its role has remained ambiguous in ovarian tissue during reproductive cycle. Therefore, this study was aimed to investigate the expression patterns of OCT4 in mouse ovaries during the normal estrous cycle. Adult National Medical Research Institute mice were classified as...
متن کاملEffect of Different Concentrations of Forskolin Along with Mature Granulosa Cell Co-Culturing on Mouse Embryonic Stem Cell Differentiation into Germ-Like Cells
Background: Germ cell development processes are influenced by soluble factors and intercellular signaling events between them and the neighboring somatic cells. More insight into the molecular biology of the germ cell development from embryonic stem (ES) cells and investigation of appropriate factors, specifically those targeting differentiation process, is of great importance. In this study, w...
متن کاملEstablishment, Culture and Freezing of Human and Mouse Embryonic Stem Cells: a Protocol Guide
Studies of the biology of human embryonic stem cells (hES cells) have developed rapidly over the past nine years since the first reports of their derivation. They clearly offer enormous potential, not only for regenerative medicine, but also for drug discovery and toxicology, human developmental biology and cancer research. Realizing these potentials a better understanding of the fundamental as...
متن کاملPotential of Mouse and Human Embryonic Fibroblasts to Support Mouse Embryo Development Following Exposure to Laboratory Temperature
Purpose: Present study was designed to evaluate the potential of co-culture systems to overcome deleterious effect of exposure of mouse 2-cell embryos to low temperature. Materials and Methods: 2-cell embryos were flushed from oviduct of super ovulated NMRI mice into HTF medium with 15% BSA. After washing 3 times with HBSS and with 15% BSA, embryos were exposed to laboratory temperature (LT) (...
